Good and great HVAC customer service have subtle differences. Not only is there a distinct difference when it comes to questions of technical aptitude and proficiency, there are subtle cues that you, as the customer, should take note of.
- The technician remembers your first and last name.
- “Apologies” and “thank you’s” should be appropriate. Too little, and you feel as if you don’t matter. Too much, and you start wondering about false promises.
- Not only is your concern addressed and resolved, they take the extra step to ask: “Is there anything else I may help you with?”
- Going the extra mile.
Being the principle from which greatness grows, that last cue is the ultimate game-changer. HVAC customer service is no different in that respect.
Some companies do it on principle while others are lacking in this category. When you are in need of an HVAC contractor, you should look for signs that they provide great HVAC customer service.
- Do they employee North American Technician Excellence (NATE)-certified technicians? You can ask for NATE ID numbers that you can verify on the NATE website.
- Does the company proudly present you with testimonials from other clients?
- What form of guarantee do they offer? Does their guarantee only cover you until they leave your property? A day, a week, a month, a year after the service?
