Besides being an attractive addition to your home, Galileo thermometers can give you a good idea of how well your thermostat and HVAC system are performing. These thermometers tend to be fairly accurate, so they’re a fun way to verify the temperature any place in your home.
Testing the Thermostat
Besides measuring the temperature inaccurately, a thermostat may not be in an ideal position in your home. It shouldn’t be placed in a drafty area, exposed to direct sunlight, or adjacent to the kitchen or a bathroom. Each of these positions will influence its temperature readings, and your comfort could suffer.
To test your thermostat using Galileo thermometers, find a place to set it nearby and wait an hour or so for the thermometer to adjust. The temperature reading on the thermometer should be close to the temperature on the thermostat. If there’s a difference, have your HVAC contractor test and calibrate your thermostat. The HVAC technician may also discover that the thermostat isn’t in an ideal location and will move it to a more suitable place.
More Uses for the Thermometer
If you discover that the Galileo thermometers and the thermostat measure temperatures accurately, you can move the Galileo from room to room to measure temperatures throughout your home. You may have rooms that seem too cold or hot. The Galileo can verify it and you can work with your HVAC pro to find solutions.
Air balancing is something your contractor can do, as well as zoning your home. A zoning system solves numerous home comfort problems, as well as lowering energy costs. Rather than conditioning your whole house at once, it breaks it into separate segments for individual conditioning.
