Learn How an HVAC Sensor Can Help Your Home’s Unit

By Angie Lyczkowski | Published: September 21, 2021

HVAC systems have multiple components, with some being easily visible, while others are hidden away from sight. HVAC sensors are one of the more invisible components. They play a significant role in regulating HVAC systems. Let’s take a look at how different types of HVAC sensors can help your system.

Pressure Sensors

These devices sense pressure and convert it into electrical signals. They measure airflow and pressure throughout an HVAC system to facilitate effective air distribution. By measuring the airflow to every room and the pressure in the rooms, your HVAC system can optimize your home’s airflow, heating, and cooling and lower energy consumption.

Temperature Sensors

Temperature sensors detect and measure the hotness and coolness of the surroundings and then convert it into an electrical signal. Besides monitoring the ambient conditions, they can monitor the gases and liquids used to cool or heat the environment. They provide measurement, regulation, and compensation of temperature.

Humidity Sensors

Humidity sensors detect and measure water vapor. They can be incorporated into humidification and dehumidification systems to regulate the moisture in the air and enhance comfort.

Occupancy Sensors

These detect a person’s presence in a room. They control heating and cooling automatically based on a room’s occupancy. The sensors can be combined with HVAC zoning systems to improve energy efficiency. By shutting down heating and cooling in areas of the home that are not being used, systems using occupancy sensors help you save on your energy bills.

Air-Quality Sensors

Air quality sensors detect undesirable levels of dangerous gases. They signal the system to adjust the ventilation to get rid of the polluted air safely.

HVAC sensors are beneficial to your system’s overall efficiency and the health and safety of you and your family. If you need sensors or any other HVAC supplies in the Lorain area, contact us at Energy 1 Heating & Air Conditioning.
