Good indoor air quality is about more than simply opening doors and windows to allow fresh air to come inside. This is especially the case with micro-organisms in your indoor air. The good news is that UV light systems allow you target these airborne germs directly. If you’re looking for a great way to clean up the air in your Northeast Ohio area home, an ultraviolet (UV) light system should be part of your strategy.
Elimination of dangerous pollutants
If you or a member of your family suffers from either allergies or asthma, you may already know how dangerous airborne micro-organisms such as viruses, bacteria and mold spores can be. Those who don’t already suffer from these ailments can develop respiratory problems from harmful particles entering your lungs. UV light systems eliminate a large majority of these particles by breaking down the molecular bonds that keep them together, thereby eliminating them.
The importance of your HVAC system
Whether you’re treating your air or simply letting the fan run, airborne micro-organisms are pulled through your home’s ductwork. As these elements pass by the UV light system, which has been installed either in the ductwork or at the evaporator coil, the organisms are broken down and eliminated. As your indoor air passes through the HVAC system repeatedly during the day, a large percentage of these micro-organisms are removed.
Variable intensity
Older UV light systems emitted a certain degree of power at all times, no matter how many microorganisms were in your home’s air. This constant intensity works well, but it also wastes a lot of energy, especially as your air gets cleaner. New technology, however, allows the system to analyze the amount of pollutants in your air and adjust the power of the lights accordingly.
